Homework

Year 5 will continue to receive MA each week and literacy homework.  It is imperative that the children complete any corrections each week and learn the summer term spelling lists found on the year 5 webpage. In addition to this any unfinished class work will be sent home. Reading and revising the times tables and division facts is still very important. Pupils must be encouraged to read for at least 30 minutes each night.

School Equipment

This is a constant stress factor in the classroom. Please ensure your children have everything they need and that all equipment is labelled.  All children this term will need a glue stick, scissors, compass, protractor, plenty of ink cartridges and a calculator.

Games

This half term the children will be playing hockey, rounders and tennis.  After half term they will be concentrating on athletics.  Please ensure your child has their PE and swimming kit with them for this session and that all items are clearly named.

Hall PE Times / Swimming Times

5B have their games and swimming times on Friday (g) and Wednesday (s)

5J have their games and swimming times on a Friday (g) and Thursday (s)

5W have their games and swimming times on a Friday (g) and Wednesday (s)

All children will be expected to swim unless a letter from a parent is sent in to the class teacher. Please ensure that your children have the appropriate swim wear- a one piece costume for girls, trunks (not shorts) for boys and a swimming hat. Goggles may be worn if required but please ensure that everything is clearly named.

Many thanks to all parents for your continued support – as you can see Year 5 have a busy term ahead but we could not offer the activities we do without your much valued help.
