Amherst School (Academy) Trust was created in 2011 when the school converted to academy status. Amherst School is the only school under the direction of Amherst School (Academy) Trust. 

The Academy Trust is a company limited by guarantee and an exempt charity. The articles of association are the primary governing documents of the academy trust.

All trustees of Amherst School are trustees of Amherst School (Academy) Trust.  The trustees of Amherst School (Academy) Trust are also the directors of the academy trust for the purposes of company law. The charitable company operates as Amherst School.
